America’s Uninsured Rate Is Down To 10% And Possibly Lower!

According to a Forbes / Business report today, the Urban Institute’s Health Reform Monitoring Survey, (a quarterly survey of non-elderly Americans) found that the amount of uninsured Americans has dropped from over 17% in March 2015 to an April 2015 new low of 10%. This number today (two months following the April survey) can easily be lower than the figured reported.

Forbes further cites that as of this date no single report has ever shown the uninsured rate in “single digits.” Additional good news has shown that the uninsured rate is already down to 7.5% in states that have expanded Medicaid under Obamacare.

Different surveys studied by Forbes have come up with other findings such as 11.9% total uninsured (Gallup pole), or 13% (Rand) but in all instances the numbers show large decreases in the uninsured within our population. Just a short lookback in September of 2013 reveals that 42.7 million Americans had no medical insurance. It is clear that there are aspects of the ACA that have been significantly effective and successful.
